For the ’23-'24 Fall/Winter season, we introduced a range of new products and perhaps most exciting, a new paper type. Many of our new (and existing favorite) products have been created in this new paper called Vacchetta, which features a new type of finish to it. So, what exactly is the Vacchetta paper? We are excited to introduce you to this new, long lasting, innovative material, and who better than our founder, Marco Marconi, to describe this new material:
"VACCHETTA", WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
“It is a traditional process of vegetable-tanned leather applied to paper. The processing of our material involves the use of water in a continuous cycle to avoid waste.”
WHAT DOES THIS PROCESS ACTUALLY CONSIST OF?
"It consists of coloring the paper by hand with a sponge, enhancing its naturalness. The paper is colored using vegetable colors and wax in the absence of water. One thing is certain, we can say that we have elevated our material even further."
HOW DOES VACCHETTA DIFFER FROM YOUR OTHER PAPERS?
The Vacchetta paper has a richer tonality to it. More depth to the colors and slightly thicker than our basic paper. The Vacchetta paper doesn’t have a sheen that reflects light but does have a very “finished” and smooth feel and isn’t as fibrous on the finish as the basic paper.
WHAT COLORS ARE OFFERED IN VACCHETTA?
Currently, we have six beautiful colorways in our Vacchetta that are offered across a variety of our best selling bag styles:
THE HERO OF THE SEASON
Our newest star is our Giulia x-small in Vacchetta paired with the Hobo Moon bag insert. Created as the perfect addition to our best-selling Giulia, we have designed our brand-new Hobo Moon, an organic cotton bag with an essential and clean look.
Thanks to its practical hook system with carabiners, simply insert the Hobo Moon inside your Giulia bag and clip it into place for a secure, easy-to-find storage compartment. The Hobo Moon can be used by itself as well or as an easy grab bag in any larger tote for that matter.
We love the unique and luxurious look of our new Vacchetta paper colorways and are excited to offer yet another variation of our innovative, eco-friendly paper products. If you gravitate toward something a bit flashier, be sure to check out our Metallic and Glossy paper options, that are sure to provide that extra touch of flair you crave.

Linen is a wonderful, sustainably made option that’s reusable, which of course means it’s UASHMAMA approved. We love a good linen bag because they are so versatile and provide a range of uses.
It’s especially true when dealing with bread. Often times when people think about storing food, their initial instinct is to cover it as tightly as possible. With bread specifically, linen will allow air circulation that prevents moisture buildup and mold growth. Your bread needs to breathe as it naturally has a high moisture content. If it is kept in a sealed container, it will soon get moldy, however a linen bread bag helps to stop this and will keep bread fresh for longer.
WHAT FOODS CAN I USE A LINEN BAG FOR?
Don’t limit yourself to using your linen bread bag for just bread though! Linen is also an ideal material for storing all sorts of other household food items. Regularly consumed perishable foods like fruits and vegetables also keep extremely well when stored in linen. Linen bags can help to keep sensitive items like lettuces, herbs and leafy greens fresh and crisp. Cheese is another product that will keep well in linen. Of course, baked goods, muffins and pastries will reap the same preserving effects as bread.
REDUCE & REUSE
A primary reason we love a good linen storage bag is due to its reusability, cutting down on the need for single-use plastic and storage bags. When not using to store perishable food items, it makes a great lunch bag easily transportable to the office, the park or the beach. Our Linen Fiocco bread bag easily ties in a not making it convenient to carry and keep your snacks and food fresh while on the go.
ADDITIONAL BENEFITS
Did you know that linen is antimicrobial and antibacterial? This means it provides a sub-par breeding ground for bacteria.
It’s washable, allowing for continued and varied use throughout your home and lifestyle. Another great step in achieving a zero-waste mindset.
They’re pretty! Harmful, crinkly plastic wrap or a beautiful linen accent to your countertop? I think I’ll choose the latter. Our linen bread bag is a beautiful accent to your table, a pleasant sight in your refrigerator and a stylish lunch bag.
Say goodbye to the struggle of keeping bread and perishables fresh for good and get yourself a linen bread bag (or two of three). You’ll reap the benefits, help the planet, and add some style to your kitchen all at onceAnd don't forget to tag us in your Instagram photos @uashmama.usa with #Uashmamastyle. ...the swirling thought in every fashionista’s head right now is what to wear on New Year’s Eve.
Choosing the right outfit is the first place to start, but perhaps even more important than the outfit itself is how you accessorize it. Carrying the right handbag can take your New Year’s Eve look to the next level.
Perhaps you’re headed to a black-tie affair in a dazzling ball gown and want to go all out. On the contrary, spending New Year’s Eve at a friend’s house ordering take-out and wearing your favorite jeans and a blazer is equally as fun. Both looks land on opposite ends of the spectrum but can be brought together with a memorable handbag. No matter how you choose to celebrate the New Year, a simple statement accessory can instantly transform your look. Who doesn’t want to ring in a new year looking and feeling their very best?!
We rounded up a few of our favorite UASHMAMA bags that will complement either look, offering varying levels of practicality but never sacrificing style:
Why we love it: The versatility of wearing as a crossbody or removing the strap and carrying as a petite satchel makes it a fantastic versatile option. The ability to be hand-free on New Year’s Eve for the midnight champagne toasts and dancing is key.
Maru Clutch in Platino or Glossy Black
Why we love it: The finish of our metallic and glossy papers makes those colorways the perfect option for New Year’s Eve. They will add just the right amount of pop and sparkle to your outfit, leaving you looking chic and fun. The small size is perfect for holding all your essentials while easily tucking under your arm while you mingle.
Why we love it: We know some people just need the convenience of crossbody and our Olimpia bag offers that without sacrificing on style. Sleek in profile, and uniquely crafted out of our woven paper, this bag will stand out from the crowd. Bonus: the strap is removable should you want to carry it as a clutch.
Whatever look you choose to ring in the new year, make sure it feels uniquely you and keep it simple. Whether tearing up the dance floor or relaxing at home, you don’t need to be bogged down on New Year’s Eve. Keep it to the essentials: lipstick, breath mints, and phone for all the photo ops.
All of these looks will start your year off fashionably and are looks you can enjoy and carry all the way through the year. Most importantly, have a happy and safe New Year! And don't forget to tag us in your Instagram photos @uashmama.usa with #Uashmamastyle. We want to see YOUR Uashmama style!

Setting a table that exudes warmth, comfort, and the spirit of the holiday can be a daunting task. From linens, to china, décor and flatware, there are a lot of decisions to be made. We want to take this task from daunting to enjoyable, encouraging you to tap into your creative side and style your tabletop with confidence this season as we share some of our favorite tips for creating a beautiful tablescape.
LAYERS
We love layering and the dimension that it adds to a table. Using a combination of chargers, dinner plates, and napkins is a tried-and-true way to achieve a layered look that draws your eye in to capture all the details. You’ll want to choose the china first and build from there. Having a few different styles of chargers on hand is always a plus, allowing you to control the vibe and theme of the table. They come in so many different colors and textures and can also be quite affordable, which is a bonus. We personally love our Lacemat as the “charger” and anchor to the place setting. Its intricate detail will capture your eye in an instant.
GLASSWARE
An easy way to jazz up your tabletop is with glassware. Not the everyday stuff, the fancy stuff! Those gold rimmed glasses passed down from your grandmother that require handwashing. This is the perfect season to use them. And should you be fortunate enough to have family tableware that’s been passed down, it serves as a great table topic to share memories with loved ones.
CENTERPIECE
No table is complete without a centerpiece. When it comes to the holiday season especially, we really believe a centerpiece that’s low is key to ensure it’s easy for your guests to engage with everyone at the table. Low & lush! We always prefer live, natural elements in a centerpiece whether that be greenery from your yard (magnolia, pine, etc.) or a robust arrangement of flowers. From there, we seek to add a little dimension and unique touches by mixing in dried fruit (like a dried pomegranate), colorful vegetables like artichokes as well as feathers or twigs. If getting creative building a centerpiece feels overwhelming to you, there’s nothing wrong with snagging one from your local florist.
LIGHTING
Soft lighting will create the most elegant meal setting. Taper candles in a variety of heights, colors and shapes are a great way to add some fun with your tabletop décor. There’s just something about warm, natural light that really sets the ambiance. For something truly unique, check out our Paper Lampshades. Simply slide them over the top of a standard wineglass, put a tealight (real or fake) inside and voila.
ACCENTS
When your table is dressed, take a look and see if there are any gaps that need to be filled. A beautiful water pitcher or beverage holder adds another touch of character. Another easy way to fill in some blank space is to create personalized place cards for your guests, custom menus, or chair markers; all of which add a personal touch making your guests feel warm and welcomed as well as enhancing the design of your table.
If December 1st creeps up on you and you start to panic amidst the realization that you haven’t decorated or planned your Christmas celebration yet, don’t! These quick, easy ways to dress your table will keep your Christmas meals classy, memorable, and stress free.

Let's have an Aperitivo! It consists of drinking and eating something just before lunch or most commonly before dinner. As if it were an easy task to pick your one favorite part of Italian culture, but the practice of enjoying an aperitivo just might be it. After a long working day an aperitivo is always a good idea to lift your mood, in particular with a Spritz or Negroni; two of Italy's most popular cocktails.
The Spritz is an Italian cocktail which is the symbol of the Italian aperitivo. The ingredients you will need to make it include Aperol or Campari, prosecco, soda water, a slice of orange and some ice cubes. Many Italians prefer their spritz with Aperol while others prefer it with Campari. The choice purely depends on your personal taste preferences. Aperol has a sweet flavor whereas Campari has a strong and bitter taste.
The Negroni is Italy's most other famed cocktail and favorite for an afternoon aperitivo. The ingredients you need for a Negroni are equal parts gin of choice, vermouth, and Campari.
Making a Spritz or Negroni is very easy and certainly doable yourself in the comfort of your own home. Here are a few more tips to set up an Italian aperitivo at home in UASHMAMA style....
When preparing an aperitivo, we have to include something to eat too. Keep it simple with some crackers, nuts, or crunchy breadsticks (if you’re really wanting to keep within the Italian spirit). The perfect solution for serving your snacks is with our Paper Bags or Lollie’s. Practical, fashionable & easy to transport.
Grab some of our durable coasters, available in a variety of colors and styles. Resistant to heat and stains, these coasters are easy to clean and perfect to place your cocktails.
Arrange your homemade Aperitivo with UASHMAMA and let your guests really be stunned! And don't forget to tag us in your Instagram photos @uashmama.usa with #Uashmamastyle. We want to see YOUR Uashmama style!

The perfect touch of luxury for a bathroom or kitchen that’s a step above your everyday soap. The calming benefits of bergamot and olive oil will leave you relaxed and smelling delightfully fresh. Take it up a notch and include the hand lotion as well.
The perfect tabletop accessory for a small family or entertaining, yet something that isn’t always at the top of the priority list. This is the one that the recipient never knew they even needed. Take it up a notch by filling it with some homemade baked goods, gourmet snacks or a nice bottle of olive oil.
A house plant adds an instant touch of warmth and personalization to a space and will always be a small reminder of your thoughtfulness. Our Paper Bags make the perfect planter and are available in numerous sizes to fit everything from a succulent to a large indoor tree. Be sure to pick out a low maintenance, resilient plant in case its owner doesn’t have a green thumb

It’s a pretty good bet that we’ve all been eating sandwiches since we were young. Love them or hate them, they can quickly feel boring and uncreative. There is something about summer though, that just feels like the best season for tasty sandwiches. For those long, hot, summer days, a lite, refreshing sandwich really hits home.
Lifestyle blogger, @snoopnattynat is one of our favorites for sandwich inspiration. We love her simple, yet delectably delicious creations particularly when it comes to sandwiches. The best part is that chances are, you already have everything you need in your fridge to make them! Our two favorites are her Cucumber Sandwich and Pimento Cheese Tomato Sandwich. Here’s what you’ll need for each:
PIMENTO CHEESE & TOMATO SANDWICH
*Heirloom Tomato
*Mayonaise (Dukes!)
*Pimento Cheese
*Salt & Pepper
*White Bread

Synonymous with summer, yet dare we say often times more pleasant in late spring and early fall when the temperature isn’t quite as extreme. Even with summer winding down, there is still plenty of time to host a great backyard party! Achieving that “wow factor” for your guests (or even just your family) in an outdoor dining and entertaining experience can be accomplished with a few simple details.
COLOR is one of the first things we think of when styling a table or implementing a theme. It might be seasonal place settings you plan to reuse all summer long or theme specific to a holiday or special event, but color is always the best place to start. There are several ways to easily incorporate color:
Remember that entertaining outside naturally provides you with the best canvas possible, mother nature! Take advantage of your surroundings and playing up the foliage that is native and natural to your space. Adding florals and greens to your tabletop adds height, dimension and additional color and texture. You can go elaborate with florals or keep it simple by clipping a few greens from your yard.
EFFICIENCY is key to any type of entertaining. Setting up a system that allows you to focus on being a great host while simultaneously offering efficient ways for your guests to self-serve will make both the host and the guests experience better.
Trash/Recycling – an easily accessible trash container is so helpful. It keeps guests from having to search or ask where your trash bin is and when it’s visible, your guests are much more likely to throw away their waste which keeps it from piling up throughout the evening. Hate the idea of an ugly trash can ruining your beautiful aesthetic? It doesn’t have to be ugly! Try our Amalfi storage bin or Paniere bucket.
AMBIANCE is curating that feeling that encompasses multiple senses at once from sound to taste to smell and sight, to form a feel-good sensation. You’ve created a beautiful set-up, provided your guests with what they need to enjoy themselves, prepared delicious food to taste and now it’s time to finish it all off with a little lighting and music.
· Soft lighting can change the feeling of any space (indoor or outdoor) in an instant. UASHMAMA lampshades are a fantastic way to incorporate some soft lighting around the table. Café lights are another wonderful way to incorporate soft light and add to that overall memorable ambiance.
· Music might be the most impactful way to evoke a feeling inside and instill memories in your guests’ minds. It’s the perfect little topper to all the other elements you’ve executed. The background music you select can also evolve throughout the night. Whether up-tempo jazz, yacht rock classics, soulful standards or modern pop, music is a great way to put your personal style and stamp on the evening.
Take advantage of the cooler temperatures that are soon to be arriving and soak up the upcoming weekend nights with a great outdoor get together. Be sure to tag us in your Instagram photos @uashmama.usa with #Uashmamastyle. We want to see YOUR Uashmama style!
Being “fashionable” does not require adopting the latest fashion trends and a complex, expensive, always expanding wardrobe. The differentiating element in your style compared to your coworkers, friends, or strangers on the street often comes down to accessories and how you style your look. Accessories are what polishes off a look and gives that finishing touch, whether simple and understated or bold and eccentric. Even someone who may not consider themself as “stylish” or prefers a simple, basic look can take jean shorts and a white t-shirt to a whole other level with a chunky necklace, colorful scarf or some statement glasses.
Your accessories speak to who you are, what makes you feel confident and creative, and that’s the beauty of owning your own unique style. Here are the 5 accessories we think every woman should have in her closet to achieve everything from a simple look to a runway look...
Modular Bag/Clutch
A transitional bag is going to be your best friend, your lifesaver and your go-to time and time again. We love a bag that is versatile and will serve you in a variety of ways. Of course, most women have far more than one handbag adorning the walls of their closet, however having one that offers flexibility is key. We love our Terme bag, which comes in two sizes and has a removable strap allowing it to function as a crossbody, clutch (small size), or hand purse (large size). When you need to be hands free, you’ve got the ease of a crossbody and when you need an elevated night look, it instantly functions as a great evening bag. Having a bag that is multi-functional and transitions from day to night is great for travel and everyday living.
Statement Jewelry
One of the quickest and easiest ways to add personality and a statement to your look is with jewelry. More than likely, your jewelry collection has been continually added to and built upon over the years, leaving you with timeless classics and bold, chunky pieces. Depending on your mood, daily activities, and outfit, you can easily stamp your own individual style on your appearance with some great statement jewelry.
Sunglasses
Practical & stylish, sunglasses can add a touch of glamour to any outfit and will protect you from the suns damaging rays. Unique, funky shapes are so in right now and we love the playful and mysterious element they can add to your look. But everyone needs that classic staple pair that fits your face shape and is versatile enough to go with anything in your closet.
*Want your sunglasses to have their own accessory? Check out our innovatively designed eyeglass case that easily clips to your handbag.
A Good Belt
Throw it on with blue jeans, cinch the waist of a flowy dress, wear with an oversized tunic ….there is always going to be a time when you require a belt to put that finishing touch on a look. A good thin belt, with plenty of holes to give you maximum flexibility is key.
Silk Scarf
Versatile in its uses, a colorful silk scarf is a fabulous way to add style and make a statement with your outfit. You can wear as a belt, tie around your neck, drape across your shoulders, and use a variety of ways in your hair. Whether a vintage scarf from a relative or a new purchase, having a colorful silk scarf instantly adds style to any outfit.
Have fun with your accessories and above all, embrace your own style that makes you uniquely you. Be sure to tag us in your Instagram photos @uashmama.usa with #Uashmamastyle. We want to see YOUR Uashmama style!
Kate Strickler is a widely followed blogger (aka @naptimekitchen) known and loved for sharing practical solutions to simplifying your home and lifestyle. Kate is the queen of organizing and teaching you methods that not only work but are sustainable. She knows her way around a kitchen, has a beautiful and infections spirit and a keen nack for simple solutions to make daily tasks a whole lot easier. We sat down with Kate for a quick chat where she graciously shared some tips, tricks, and insight into how she got started.
UASHMAMA: How did Naptime Kitchen come to be?
KATE: It all started as a way to pass the time. My first child was 7 months old, and he took two naps a day. I was bored at home and cooking a lot more and started sharing the more elaborate dishes on my Instagram account with a small group of friends and relatives. But as my family and social media following grew, those dishes changed too. At first, I was making more labor-intensive recipes and over time it became, 'What can I dump in the Crock-Pot?'
UASHMAMA: We know staying organized is big for you. Top 3 tips for someone like yourself with a house full of littles?
KATE:
1. Have an entryway storage area for all the shoes, socks, jackets. We use an 8-cube storage system right by the front door with a hanging hall tree above it. Each kid gets one bin for shoes/socks and another for jackets. The shoes and socks live together to make getting in and out of the door easier.
2. Toy purgatory! This is what we do for toy cycling. If I notice we have too much, I put some in toy purgatory. If no one even notices those toys are missing over a few months, they get donated. If someone misses a toy, I happily bring it out of toy purgatory.
3. A plastic drawer storage bin for the awkward space at the bottom of the pantry to hold all the kid snacks. This space would otherwise be empty, and this makes it easy for little hands to grab snacks for themselves. Also use the back of the door hanging racks on the pantry and bathroom linen closet doors. This really maximizes space if you are short on it.
Fun fact: I have a deep passion for helping people organize their homes on a budget.
You can find out all about it at homereset.com
UASHMAMA: UASHMAMA is all about products you can continually repurpose around your home. You have true talent for coming up with amazing, easy hacks for items already lying around the house. (ex. medicine bottles for sauce/dressings). Do these just come to you naturally? (p.s. we are grateful for all of your tips!)
KATE: I am naturally more resourcefully minded; I think I got that gene from my parents! When Nate was in law school, and we had two kids we learned how to live cheap, and I started getting creative with how we could stretch our money. Honestly, I think this is where the “can we go one more day?” grocery shopping principle was born! Trying my hardest to stretch the groceries one more day to keep us on track. Using shoebox lids for organizers, reusing peanut butter jar lids for mason jar lids, these came from always asking the question, “do I have something I can already use to solve this problem?”
UASHMAMA: Favorite recipe that's regularly been in your rotation so far this year?
KATE: We are loving our new outdoor grill and using it a ton, especially when we are hosting. I’ve been doing a variation of Hibachi chicken and veggies on the blackstone. Simply marinating chicken in teriyaki sauce, grilling peppers and onions right alongside the chicken, and serving over coconut rice with this yum yum sauce. Most popular NTK recipe is likely my Creamy Chicken Enchiladas (makes a ton and freezes beautifully!)
UASHMAMA: How/where did you first discover UASHMAMA?
KATE: I was walking down King Street in Charleston with my cousin Mary Ellen who shouted out, “oh my gosh! There’s a Uashmama store!” She had heard of the brand and owned a bag. We went in and I quickly fell in love and bought my first bag right there on the spot.
UASHMAMA: Any summer reading suggestions?
KATE: Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty, The Miad by Nita Prose, Darling Girl by Liz Michalski, and Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
UASHMAMA: We love your heart for others and the all-encompasing meals you prep when providing for someone. For readers who may be new to Naptime Kitchen, tell us any tips you have when assembling a meal or care package for someone in need, or just because.
KATE: I really try to encourage those who are intimidated by giving a meal to someone or if they don’t feel confident in the kitchen. First off, if you’ve got one meal you love and are great at, make it for everyone! No one will care (or even know) if you make it twice. In my opinion, the best meal to give someone is the meal they didn’t have to cook themselves. Have 2-3 seasonal meals you enjoy making that you simply rotate. This takes the decision making out of it and you’re making something you have made before. Or, maybe you love to bake. Instead of signing up for dinner, bake some muffins and provide fresh fruit. That could be an easy breakfast for the week. Lastly, there is nothing wrong with a gift card. Or a completely store-bought meal is GREAT and warmly welcomed. This does not have to take you hours to do, you can bless someone by just showing up!
UASHMAMA: Do you have a favorite UASHMAMA product?
KATE: The Totty bag! Holds up so well, beautiful, and lined with pockets!
UASHMAMA: What are you most looking forward to this summer?
KATE: A slower pace with my kids. Especially slower mornings.
UASHMAMA: You've got your hands full with 4 kids and a husband. How do you find time to connect with each one individually?
KATE: You know, each one has times where they need me more than the others. I just try and lean into what I know each one loves. Playing sports after school with the oldest, letting the middle one fall asleep in my bed, back scratches for the third born…little ways to let them know I love them. I absolutely don’t do it perfectly and find myself apologizing often.

Maybe you have a drab space that needs a little bit of life or you’re seeking some dimension in an area of your home. The right indoor plant can often be just what you need to achieve that extra design touch.
Indoor plants are great for so many reasons. They’re natural bringing the outside in, they clean the air by absorbing toxins and producing oxygen, they can boost your mood and productivity and even serve to reduce noise or add privacy to a space. Aside from the health benefits are the obvious; they brighten up your home with color and texture and just make you happy!
Choosing the right indoor plants is important to ensuring they have a long, healthy life in your home. Factors like sunlight and temperature are vital to understand when choosing the right plant for a space. It’s wise to pick where you want your plant before you pick which plant you want. The location you want a plant will answer the questions of how much light that area gets and how much space is available for the plant to grow and thrive. Knowing those two vital factors will now allow you to narrow your search to plants that fit that specific environment.
Next is knowing what size plant is right for your space. Bear in mind that your plant is going to grow, and some will grow more/faster than others. Small plants are great for shelves, cabinets, windowsills, and little corners to break up your existing décor and add some life. Floor plants are great statement pieces and work for filling out an empty space or an open corner. Remember whether on the floor or a shelf, your plants will need enough space to get good airflow.
Probably the most important factor to consider is the amount of light the specific area of your plant receives. A southwest-facing window will be high light; an east- or west-facing window will be medium-light, and a north-facing window will be low light. Any plant that requires bright light will need strong sunlight throughout the majority of the day. Plants requiring medium light will work best near windows and in areas that receive indirect or partial sunlight throughout the day. Low-light plants (think shelves, hallways, stairs) are best for areas that receive little to no natural light throughout the day.
Once you’ve determined all the above factors, we suggest going to a nursery to choose your plants. The staff and their expertise will be extremely helpful in guiding you to the right plants to choose from. You’ll want to ensure that you are well versed in the watering methods required for your plant to ensure it has a long, beautiful, and healthy life in its new space within your home. Tip: invest in a water meter! They are not very expensive and once you are educated on the water needs of your plant, it makes it simple to ensure you are not overwatering or underwatering your beloved plant.
Of course, after you’ve selected the perfect plant, UASHMAMA has some wonderful products to use as planters to add an even bigger wow factor to your new baby Our PAPER BAGS are perfect for everything from a succulent to a large indoor tree. The PANIERE BUCKET is another great option for small to medium and even large plants.
If you've always been hesitant to bring living plants into your home, following the above tips will help make it a successful process and will add so much brightness to your home. Don't forget to tag us in your Instagram photos @uashmama.usa with #UASHMAMASTYLE. We want to see YOUR Uashmama style!
Summer is officially here and is a great time to do a quick, easy refresh around your home. With kids out of school and more time most likely being spent together within the house, it’s a perfect time to freshen up your space for the season. And let’s be clear; we are talking about a refresh, not a full-on make over. This is something anyone can achieve easily and with minimal investment. Here are 4 quick and easy tips to change up and tidy up your space for those long, lazy days ahead.
DECLUTTER
School is out, which means there may be an excess of last year’s school supplies still floating around in need of purging or finding a permanent home. Kids at home also more than likely means more clutter. Toys, puzzles, games, etc. being used all day long can quickly turn your cozy space into a chaotic one. First, sort through all the loose papers lying around; magazines, school projects, etc. Throw away what you don’t need to keep and grab some of our Easy Boxes for the rest.
They come in a variety of sizes and are such a great “catch-all” storage solution. Grab a large one for each child and fill with those school projects that you want to save. Now they are safely out of the way, protected, and organized for all future special items per child. The medium sizes are perfect for all of those magazines you want to keep but don’t want cluttering up your counters. The small sizes are perfect for storing kids’ art and craft supplies. Best of all, when not in use/not needed, the Easy Box folds up, snaps together and stores flat!
GREENS & STEMS
We are big fans of incorporating plants in any space throughout the home. It’s one of the easiest ways to add dimension and personality to your décor. Whether a small plant on an end table, some succulents, or a large indoor tree, having greenery (we do prefer live, though there are great faux substitutes) adds instant warmth and life to your space. Our Paper Bags most popular use amongst UASHMAMA lovers is as a planter. Used for the tiniest of succulents to large indoor trees, they make such a unique statement in and of themselves as a planter.
TABLETOP POP
Add some color with a fresh tabletop look. A tabletop makeover can be as simple as just changing out your placemats from season to season or as elaborate as adding candles, greenery, linens and more. Whatever your preference, it’s such a great way to give your table a fresh new look. It’s also the perfect place to show your personality and be a little bold and daring as well. Why not spice it up for the summer with some bright bold pops of color? UASHMAMA placemats are available in wonderful vibrant colors and calming neutrals.
SHOP YOUR HOME
It’s probably safe to say that we all poses far more than we need. And it’s so easy to always think “new” when wanting to refresh or change a space, but don’t forget to shop your home. You’ll be surprised at how many things aren’t getting used that are already great or can be made great with a couple of quick adjustments. Look for items you're currently using for one purpose that either aren’t serving you well or can be changed. Voila, you now have an opportunity to repurpose that item into a completely new look. This is what we live for at UASHMAMA. Creating items that you can constantly reuse and repurpose throughout your home.
Don't be intimitaded to make small easy changes. These quick refresh ideas are simple yet impactful that anyone can achieve. And, don't forget to tag us in your Instagram photos @uashmama.usa with #UASHMAMASTYLE. We want to see YOUR Uashmama style!
Lifestyle blogger Nina Williams, (@ninawilliamsblog) offers her followers the full realm of lifestyle content from fashion, to food to home decor and DIY projects. After going through multiple home builds in Iowa where she and her family are based, she has picked up a great nack for design organically along the way. Her palette is fresh and clean and her bubly personality is contagious. We loved sitting down with Nina to chat about how her blog came to be...
UASHMAMA: We know you were born in the Philippines. When did you make the move to America and can you share a little bit about that?
NINA: We moved to America when I was 3 years old in 1986. My grandpa worked at the US Embassy as a security guard, got his citizenship, and eventually my mom, her siblings, and their families were able to move to the United States. It was between New Jersey and Iowa on where to live, and they ended up picking Iowa because my grandpa's brother lived in Pella, Iowa. I am so glad they did because I love living in Iowa!
UASHMAMA: What was it like being the youngest of 7 girls?
NINA: I loved it! I have an identical twin sister, so we were even more spoiled. Even in the Philippines, people wanted to babysit us and spoil us because twins were not common in our family. I don't think there was ever a time where I wished I had a brother. Ha! Now that we're older, we go on girls' trips with my mom and sisters and have the best time.
UASHMAMA: Did you always have an eye/passion for design and décor?
NINA: No. You should've seen my first house! My love of home and interiors started when we built our first home in Dubuque, IA. Then we moved to Des Moines, IA, and our first build in Des Moines was what I shared on my Instagram account in 2015. We sold that house in 2019 and decided to build again. We've been in our current house for over 2 years now. I feel like my passion for design and decor grew more and more every time we built.
UASHMAMA: When styling a room or embarking on a DIY project, do you find yourself drawing inspiration from your Filipino background?
NINA: I don't tend to pull from my background when it comes to home design and inspo but I do love pulling out family recipes and baking Filipino dishes for my family. My favorite is a pork steak recipe served with rice.
UASHMAMA: Your home that you’ve recently built is stunning. What is your favorite room in the home?
NINA: My favorite room is my kitchen! I put a lot of thought into designing that space like the layout and function of the kitchen, which appliances I wanted in there, and selecting the perfect blue color, island stain, and light fixtures. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and everyone ends up hanging out in the kitchen!
UASHMAMA: What was your least favorite part about the building process, and did you learn any tips you would share to navigate that difficult part?
NINA: My husband was the general contractor, and if we built again, we would hire a builder. Instead of enjoying the building process as a married couple, his tasks as GC and my tasks as a "designer" were very separated. I was picking stuff out without him and that's something I would like to do together. ;-)
UASHMAMA: How/where did you first discover UASHMAMA?
NINA: I have seen the bags all over instagram and at a couple local shops. My assistant, Taylor, had considered using them for her wedding welcome bags, so we both knew the brand. We thought it would make such a fun May Day basket!
UASHMAMA: You started your career as a professional wedding photographer from what we understand. Do you still get behind the lens from time to time?
NINA: I do still get behind the lens, but not as much as I would like! I do use my camera to shoot some home content every now and then. When I look back at old pictures of my kids when they were young, I always tell myself I need to get it out more. The pictures were candid and artistic. The convenience of my phone stops me from using the DSLR as an every day camera!
UASHMAMA: Do you have a favorite UASHMAMA product?
NINA: My favorite product is the Laundry Baskets!
UASHMAMA: We were thrilled to partner with you on your May Day baskets. Can you share with us a little bit about how this project went and where you got your inspiration?
NINA: I am always trying to think of fun and inspiring ideas to share on my platform. The idea for the May Day baskets came after a conversation about how fun and exciting this day used to be as kids. From the creation of the baskets, to dropping them at a friend's doorstep, and running away. It was always so much fun, and I just wanted to bring back a little bit of that childhood joy and share it with my friends and followers.

The monochromatic look has been a hot trend lately and we have to admit, we are into it. It’s been around for a while but seems to be everywhere these days. While the monochromatic look in neutrals has been a chic style that’s fairly easily embraced, it’s not always just about the black and white. The trend has also embraced bold, bright, and fluorescent tones as well.
One might think that a monochromatic outfit lacks creativity, but we disagree. There are endless shades and variations of every primary color, which translates into the ability to create a variety of amazing looks across one color family.
Another thing we love about this trend is how easy it is to incorporate it in both a casual, put together day look or an elevated evening look.
Some say the trend originated back in the 20’s when the iconic Coco Chanel played with her black and white designs. The idea being to make a look more sophisticated, elegant, and modern.
Part of the backbone of the monochromatic movement is minimalism. You know at UASHMAMA, we are fans of minimizing waste, stress, and excess. Monochrome fashion nearly requires you to be minimalistic in the pieces you choose and allows for the ability to easily pull from items you already own or can layer into a look without being expensive. Sure, some of the top design houses have amazing monochrome fashion pieces, but they aren’t necessary in achieving this look.
Timeless. Versatile. Achievable. These are some of the key reasons we love this trend. They are reasons that align perfectly with UASHMAMA’s ethos and our commitment to creating functional, timeless pieces that can be repurposed and used time and time again. We also fall into the camp of believing that neutrals are never out of style. So whether you like to play it safe with the white and black shades or punch it up with some color, we love this trend and are excited to offer you both neutral and colorful accessories to compliment whatever monochromatic look you’re going for!
Whether a fan of the monochromatic trend or not, we encourage you to be confident in whatever style is uniquely you. And, don't forget to tag us in your Instagram photos @uashmama.usa with #Uashmamastyle. We want to see YOUR Uashmama style!!
UASHMAMA founder and creator, Marco Marconi, craves customer feedback and always leans a listening ear to customer requests and suggestions. This yields not just new products, but enhancements and new variations of existing, loved products as well. We always wait with excited anticipation when a new product drop is in the works and this one did not disappoint. We are thrilled to share with you our new line of products for Spring/Summer.
In case you haven’t noticed, woven is in. In a big way! Since launching a few years ago, our Woven Collection has been tremendously popular and has continued to grow as this woven bag trend has taken hold. Always innovating, Marco has created a new version of our Woven paper featuring a wider weave design. Showcased beautifully on the brand-new Olimpia Bag, this slim crossbody profile is so chic and elegant! Perfect for an elevated day look that transitions perfectly into the evening.
You asked, we answered. Our best-selling Giulia bag is now available in a smaller size, perfect for everyday use. One of the most frequent requests we receive from customers is a smaller Giulia and we are so excited at how it turned out. Not only do we now offer the Giulia in a 3rd, smaller size, but we have some fun new colorways available in this customer favorite as well. Hello summer essential!
Clap your hands if you are a hydration fanatic because the Tivoli may just be your new favorite accessory. Available in two sizes, the Tivoli is a crossbody water bottle holder, perfect for travel or outdoor walks. It will hold various sized Yeti/Swell/water bottles or beverages of choice, leaving you hands free and looking fashionable at the same time.
We have launched not just one, but three new toiletry case styles. The Panarea, Vulcano & Lipari are each offered in two different sizes and provide new silhouettes to suit each individuals personal style and preference. The Vulcano & Panarea offer a deeper, bucket-like profile, while the Lipari offers a more shallow and slim profile. Every traveler has their own unique needs and these new cosmetic cases are a great addition to our travel collection, allowing you to find the one that’s just right for you.
Up for a variety of challenges, the Parma can carry you through a few different daily scenarios. Its inspiration was to be a traditional messenger style bag that was slightly more compact in nature. While a great messenger bag, it also makes the perfect picnic or lunch bag as well. Comfortable to carry, compact enough to keep your goodies secure, and efficient in design, its functionality is all encompassing for commuters and leisure goers alike.
Looking for an upgrade to the lighting and atmosphere in your home, office or workspace? We are loving the new Cilindro Lampshades. The perfect way to add a soft, cool ambiance to your space. These paper lampshades are available in 4 sizes.

From corporate world to creative designer, Wendy Scott is making a name for herself in the Pacific Northwest design community. We love working with Wendy and her team who are big fans of UASHMAMA's Home Collection. Her appreciation for the multi-purpose functionality of UASHMAMA pieces and the commitment to sustainability thrills us of course. We love the spaces Wendy creates that are such a perfect mix of bright and unique while also evoking a sense of calm and comfortable. It was so fun to sit down with Wendy and chat about her transition from corporate life to pursuing her creative passions and got some great tips and advice for anyone looking to embark on a new design project.
UASHMAMA: How did you get started in design? We know you have a corporate background, so what influenced you to make the switch?
Wendy: I’ve participated in art contests since I was 4 years old. One of my first prizes was a gallon of ice cream. I have always been drawn to art, in high school and college my only A’s were in art/design courses. I went to OSU on a fine art scholarship and majored in fine art with a focus in graphic design. After college, I went into marketing (website design, restaurant menu design, marketing collateral). During my time at Nike, I shifted towards recruiting while also incorporating design. I contributed to their global design, doing everything from designing their trend magazine to hiring design interns. Later, I worked for Tesla, and tech startups. I look at my corporate career as a 10 year hiatus from design. I left the corporate world and took a two month break in which I started painting again. That, coupled with managing the remodel of my home, got the ball rolling towards interior design. When I couldn’t find the right piece of art for my mantel, I created my own (with help from my daughter). That was the a-ha moment for Wendy Scott Design (WSD).
Having time and space to escape the rat race and return to my creative roots brought into focus what I am passionate about. The positive feedback from having my home featured in the 2022 Portland Modern Home Tour gave me the confidence to pursue design through WSD.
UASHMAMA: How would you describe your style?
WENDY: Modern with vintage flare. I love incorporating vintage/loved pieces. Fun, playing with color, design without rules, not abiding by “standards”, designs based on a feeling/hunch, very instinctual.
UASHMAMA: If someone is looking to make a small, quick change with a big impact in their home, what do you recommend they focus on first? Drapery, art, or lighting?
WENDY: None of the above. Paint makes a huge difference. There’s nothing like fresh paint to freshen up a space. Lighting would be second. In my home for example, we crafted the lighting through skylights, canned lights, lamps, and lots of windows.
UASHMAMA: You've done a lot of (incredible) work on your home. What room/project was your favorite to do?
WENDY: Thank you! The living room. The mix of old and new. The blue couch was a group wedding gift from our friends. One of the chairs was one of our first big purchases as a couple. The big vintage lamp on the pink table, I found on a trip to NYC. Inspired by Rheirloom Design, a friend’s company that lacquers vintage furniture, I decided to paint my old coffee table pink. I made the painting on the mantel with help from my daughter Annie. Very sentimental piece. I loved working with the architect on the fireplace transformation. The most difficult part was creating the gapping in the shelves to the side of the fireplace, and curating the books for the shelves, for the kitchen side vs the living room side.
UASHMAMA: How/where did you first discover UASHMAMA?
WENDY: At a deli, The Market Chef, in Friday Harbor in the San Juan islands. They have a small, well curated retail section with cool pictures, cloth napkins, and outdoor cutlery, bags, etc.
UASHMAMA: Do you have a favorite UASHMAMA product?
WENDY: The planter bags are a fave. I use them for everything from dog toys, kids toys, plants and napkins to fruit. I love the versatility of them and that I can mold and adjust them how I like.
UASHMAMA: When is the right time to bring in a professional designer to assist/how do you know what projects are the ones to invest in help with?
WENDY: The key is if you know you will be in your home a long time, and you don’t feel confident about making furniture decisions and walls, then you should invest in a designer/help. For me, it's about if the client is invested, ready for change, and will work with someone who will push their design boundaries and explore creative solutions. I love a client who is open and willing to try new things. It is very much a discovery process. To some degree, I look at it like recruiting. You get the scope of the role/project, get a job/project approved, then start sourcing people/pieces. A lot of my success in recruiting stemmed from sourcing outside the box and finding people who didn’t realize their potential. Design is all about finding those creative solutions.
UASHMAMA: We love the food & wine scene in Oregon. Favorite Portland restaurant?
WENDY: How could I choose just one? 1) Quaintrelle, 2) Langbaan. My favorite winery is Penner-Ash Wine Cellars (small cozy, great views). The general food scene here is amazing, I love living within a mile of a local farmers market and how rich the seasonal produce is.
UASHMAMA: What is your dream design gig?
WENDY: Someone who is: *Ready for the process & to invest in the project *Excited *Fluid communication *When clients have meaningful things that can be repurposed (painting, old furniture, trinkets) => giving soul to a piece that is a refresh away from being a focal piece *An appetite for surprise *Understands sacrifice and the value of quality/durability over quick fixes *Incorporating sustainability

Where to next????
Known for her beautifully designed home that’s filled with the warmest and most welcoming spaces, Tanya (aka @houseofsixinteriors) has a natural knack for design and simple lifestyle practices that instantly draw you in with intrigue. She shows (and graciously shares) with her followers daily how the simplest touches from lighting, to repurposing items within your home to creative ideas to connect with your kids, can yield a big and impactful result. We sat down with Tanya for a quick chat and loved getting a deeper glimpse into her passion for homemaking.
UASHMAMA: When did your passion for design and décor begin and would you say you always had an eye for it?
TANYA: Oh I have definitely always had an eye for it! I remember my mom telling me that when I was in preschool, the teacher came up to her and said "Tanya has a real eye for putting colors and textures together. It's amazing at her age". I was the kid who constantly changed her room around, cutting images out of magazines and making mood board after mood board. It has been a long-time passion of mine. I collected all the home magazines I could and would dream of designing spaces.
UASHMAMA: We love that you are more than just a talented decorator and that you have a deep, genuine desire and love for being a homemaker. For anyone out there with the desire to lean into the practice of homemaking, do you have any tips on where to start or practical ways to add warmth and connection to your home/family?
TANYA: That is really what home is about to me. Warmth and a connection. Even when it comes to design - for me it's not about 'rules' but rather, does it feel right? I design our home based on feeling (I literally can feel if it's right or not in my heart and gut)- which means sometimes it takes a lot longer than usual to see it come to life. But that is what people feel when they walk in. I do not design anything in our home based on trends or rules (I learned the hard way in the past - saw something pretty online, adapted to our home and hated it. it just wasn't us. looked great in someone else's home but wasn't meant for us)... - so it's all about the gut feeling and how it works for our family. And I take the word home to heart. It's a place of great love, warmth, and our safe place.
Homemaking is one of the greatest gifts you can give your family - it might sound old fashioned...but it is such a beautiful and simple way to show your love. Homemade banana bread waiting for the kids when they get home from school; candles burning to create a cozy environment; squeezing oranges for fresh juice in the morning... I love doing it all for my family. It is my love language. I know that not everyone has the time to do it all, so practical ways to add warmth and connection? Candles are an easy place to start. baking once a week with your family. No fuss spaces that allow everyone to simply be. Turn off the overhead lighting and use lamps. They create such a warm ambiance - it's like an automatic comfort switch. And music. Music should always be playing in the background. We have music on from the moment we get up to the moment we go to bed.
UASHMAMA: What was your favorite project you accomplished in your home during 2022?
TANYA: oh that's easy!! our kitchen for sure. I have been dreaming about this kitchen for years. Never ready to go for it until all of the details felt just right. We use a lot of open shelving in our home. I Love the casual vibe of it. I like knowing what I have and what needs to be refilled. I like that it never gets messy behind closed doors. and I love that the kids can help themselves easily.
UASHMAMA: We know you love baking & cooking. Most requested thing your kids ask you to make?
TANYA: My banana bread for sure! I'm pretty sure Dylan said, "mom, this is the best thing you bake and everything you bake is great!" such a huge compliment from a teenager!!
UASHMAMA: How/where did you first discover UASHMAMA?
TANYA: Through Instagram. I remember coming across your beautiful paper bags and loving how versatile they were. I love that they are not only beautiful but sustainable products. We use ours as a place to store blankets; over planters for an effortlessly stylish vibe; smaller bags hold utensils - i love setting this on a casual summer table; we have also used them as fruit baskets on the counter.
UASHMAMA: To say all the rooms and spaces in your home are beautifully and intentionally designed is an understatement. Do you have a favorite room in your home?
TANYA: That is tough. I spend most of my time in the kitchen so that is definitely one of them. Really close though, is our sunroom. I designed that space so that it feels like a cozy sweater the moment you walk in and fall onto the sofa. there is no better place to end the day.
UASHMAMA: Do you have a favorite UASHMAMA product?
TANYA: Honestly, I LOVE all of the paper bags. you can use them for everything and anything - and i love stylish storage!! I always have my eye on new ones!
UASHMAMA: Tips for getting your kids involved in the kitchen?
TANYA: Don't be afraid of the mess - because it will get messy!! I used to be afraid of the mess but one day I finally let go and haven't looked back. The joy they have when they are the ones creating is priceless. The times we spend in the kitchen together are truly the best times ... full of laughter, conversation...just really, really beautiful. They are my favorite. Life can get so busy so these moments with my kids are something I cherish more than I could ever express.
