Community Outreach

With the holiday season upon us and the close of another year approaching, we like to pause and take a look back...

in gratitude for all that we achieved and all that we have been blessed with as a small, independent business. Our customers and partners keep us going day after day and we are truly thankful for the support we receive and aim to maintain a mindset of sharing our success and giving back.

At UASHMAMA, our team believes that we are all called to help our neighbors in need, and that we can have the most impact when we start in our very own communities. That’s why we have chosen to support causes that are close to home for us around our USA based office and warehouse in North Carolina and our brick-and-mortar store located in Charleston, SC. We give a % of profits annually to each of the below charities and are proud to share our love for these wonderful organizations with you. We hope you will take a moment to learn more about each of them and the positive impact they are having on their local communities:

The goal of True Justice is to fight human trafficking in their local community of Eastern North Carolina, through Christ-centered strategic initiatives with the goal to reach, raise up, and restore the lives of survivors. Once True Justice connects with a survivor, a comprehensive process involving recovery and rehabilitation for the survivor begins. Offering addiction treatment to survivors, safe housing, and more, their desire is to see this injustice abolished in our generation. In the words of True Justice, “We long to see every boy, every girl, every woman, and every man enslaved in trafficking to experience true freedom!”

Human Trafficking is a $150 billion dollar industry, second only to drug trafficking. It is a form of modern-day slavery in which traffickers use force, fraud, or coercion to control victims for the purpose of engaging in commercial sex acts or labor services against his/her will. It is estimated more than 40 million people worldwide are trapped in modern-day slavery. Every year more than 300,000 children in the United States are trafficked. North Carolina consistently ranks in the top 10 states of reported cases of human trafficking.

Hope Mission serves the Carteret County community of Eastern North Carolina by providing food, shelter, emergency financial assistance, and other means of support such as emotional support, mentoring and counseling.

Hope Mission believes that homeless people and those that are on the edge or have substance abuse issues have lost their sense of identity. Much of the time that loss of a sense of identity is because of the disconnection from family and community. These individuals feel as though they are standing alone against the whole world, and they become discouraged from thinking that life can ever be any better. They lose hope. “At Hope Mission, we do everything we can to give them back that sense of belonging. We believe this is vital to their ability to transition back to the full and rewarding lives God intended them to live.”

Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Lowcountry Orphan Relief is a non-profit organization that provides goods and services to children who have been abused or neglected. They work directly with other non-profits, schools, foster parents, and government agencies to identify the individual needs of these and other children in severe situations. They intervene at critical junctures in the lives of these children, with products and services that provide a strong, positive impact. LOR also partners with community schools to create ‘Just In Case Closets’ to fill the immediate needs of children in the school setting. They host children’s events during the year that help children in the foster care system know they are important and valued. LOR has created Foster The Future which consists of monthly life skills classes and a three-week day-camp in the summer – all focused on teaching important leadership skills and confidence-boosting to underserved children in our community.

We believe that all children have the intrinsic value and deserve to be nurtured, loved, and protected. They are entitled to have caring adults who help them develop to their full potential. Together we have an opportunity to contribute to our children’s future, be part of an enduring effort that promotes safety and the well-being of our children, providing them with the necessities of life and a welcoming, safe environment.”

We hope you enjoyed learning more about these wonderful organizations and that it inspires you to find organizations in your own community whose missions motivate you!
