Spring Tabletop Inspiration

UASHMAMA: Most people find hosting a dinner party or gathering overwhelming. What are your tips for simplifying the process and taking some of the stress out of it?

Sarah: I think hosting should be enjoyable. Don't like to set the table? Ask a friend that loves to! Not interested in cooking for a crowd? Order in. Choose your stress, delegate, and ask for help. And always remember, people are just excited to be included!

Molly: I love setting the table the night before so I dont' have to think about it the next day. Get as much prep done the day before; like cutting veggies, making a cheese board or picking out your outfit! I'm also a big fan of takeout or making a simple meal you know by heart.

UASHMAMA: What is your approach to setting a table?

Sarah: We seem to gravitate towards seasonal tables as we love to celebrate holidays and seasons! But day-to-day, we love to keep it simple with seasonal napkins, and pretty placemats. I love the Uashmama ones because they are wipeable and washable - which is a must if kids are in the home.

Molly: All of the above! There's a time and place for every kind of table setting and the Uashmama placemats seem to go with them all. Since they're solid colors and have a classic design, it's easy to dress them up or down. I love using versatile pieces like this because they work for whatever mood you're in!

UASHMAMA: Do you have any tips or tricks to keeping the conversation going with your guests?

Sarah: I love Table Topics! They have different versions of it, but especially think it's fun with family.

Molly: I always ask my husband what good things happened to him that day when we're eating dinner together. They almost always lead into a bigger conversation.

UASHMAMA: What’s your go-to recipe when hosting?

Sarah: Tacos! It's a crowd pleaser and you can make it fun and go over the top with all the toppings. They can also choose what they want, which helps with pickier eaters or dietary restrictions. I also always buy flour tortillas and also Siete Cassava tortillas, to accommodate anyone with allergies.

Molly: Pasta! I love making bolognese for lots of reasons - mainly because it's delicious, but keeping the sauce simmering on the stove all day makes your house smell amazing too. I would pair it with a big garden salad, roasted veggies, toasted bread for scooping up the leftover sauce, and plenty of wine (another way to keep the conversation going :) ).

There are so many little ways to take the stress out of hosting and endless creative options for building a beatiful tablescape. If you don't already, be sure to follow both Sarah & Molly for wonderful lifestyle tips and design inspiration.
